Description

Somerset Yurts offer an amazing glamping experience in the heart of picturesque Somerset on the outskirts of West Monkton, near Taunton. Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life and unwind in sumptuous yurts, or use our perfect location to explore this stunning county.

Our accommodation includes six yurts, all uniquely furnished and finished to a high specification and all sleep either four adults, or can accommodate a family of 6.

Moonslade: This yurt was our very first yurt. We picked blue as we thought this would be a calm and relaxing colour, reminding us of the blue sky we craved when we were working and living in a city! The field Moonslade is named after is the big field to the left of the barn.

Furzeclose: Most Mongolian yurts in Mongolia are orange, so we had to have an orange yurt! Probably the brightest yurt inside with a really sunny feel. We picked Furzeclose field for its name, as Furze is an old English name for Gorse, which has a golden flower, matching our golden yurt.

Gotton Down: This yurt is named after the field the yurts look out over and you will often see our herd going in and out of the field for milking in the morning and afternoon. The green roof poles inside give a very calm, peaceful feel and the green door blends beautifully into the country landscape.

Cherrygrove: This beautiful yurt, being furthest from the barn is often favoured by couples looking for a romantic getaway. It’s such a romantic yurt, we’ve even had a couple get engaged whilst staying here and they are returning this year to stay in Cherrygrove Yurt for their honeymoon!

Meadow: This one is set in the field next to the yurts. It is different in character to the others.

Elderflower Dome: This is a geodesic dome with lots of space.

Somerset Yurts has a communal kitchen/dining area onsite which has seating for 20 and all the facilities you would need. There is also a bathroom with power showers.

The local area includes the Quantock Hills, the beautiful Hestercombe Gardens, Somerset Wildlife Trust, Exmoor and the picturesque North Somerset Coast. In terms of food and drink, Clavelshay Barn Restaurant, The Monkton Inn and the Maypole Inn are all close by and come highly recommended.
